What does American Classic have that sets them apart?
With many innovations to their credit, American Classic has a Floating Pawl Design that times all the engagement points simultaneously. Six pawls with two teeth each for a total of twelve points of engagement that all move at the exactly the same time so you'll never miss another engagement. A small cam plate sits under the cassette body and hub shell that moves 1/8"th of an inch at a time and is powered by a loop spring. When freewheeling, all the pawls move out of the way so there is no friction. This solves two crucial problems.

How light are these wheels and hubs?
The weights are listed with wheel and hubs but it is safe to say, there aren't many components that are lighter. When you consider the effort put into getting the American Classic collection together, the wheels and hubs are some of the lightest you can get but are reasonable in price.

Please tell me about the rims.
American Classic rims are made from aluminum or magnesium and are only available with wheel sets at this time but OMG are they light.

  What is new for 2009?
Steel bases have been added for Shimano 10 Speed hubs which had three of their engagement points removed in the recent past. This caused cogs to cut into the aluminum body. The steel coating on the base only adds two grams but it solves the Shimano problem.

What spoke hole patterns can I get?
Front Road Hubs come in 18, 20, 24, 28 (no more 32 hole front) Rear Hubs come in 24, 28 and 32 hole and MTB hubs come in 32 hole only

What about technical questions before I make a purchase?
You can talk to the wheel builder! Our relationship with American Classic allows their wheel builders to talk to you and answer any questions you may have. Just call 1 888 268-6408 to start the process. In less than 48 hours (holidays, etc...) you'll get a call from a technical expert who can talk to you about all your options.

Can I get samples of hubs to see?
Of course, call 1 888 268-6408 and ask for samples. We will rush any hub of your choice and a catalog (hubs and spokes only). There are some  restrictions.

What if I crash my bike or have a problem
Call 888 268-6408 anytime. All parts are easily serviced and replacement parts are plentiful. Plus we have a crash and rebuild program (details TBA),
